A young woman moves to New York to try and make it as a songwriter. Her aspirations are sidelined by the notoriety she receives as a barmaid at Coyote Ugly, the most popular bar in New York. A shy, innocent girl new to New York City gets a job as one of the barmaids at the hottest nightclub in town.
