Description
Martin Scorsese traces the roots of the blues from the banks of the Niger River to the cotton fields and juke joints of Mississippi. Musician Corey Harris travels through Mississippi and West Africa, exploring the roots of blues music. The film celebrates the early Delta blues musicians through original performances (including Willie King, Taj Mahal, Otha Turner, and Ali Farka Toure), archival footage (featuring Son House, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker), and interviews (including Corey Harris, Sam Carr, Toumani Diabate, Willie King, Dick Waterman, Taj Mahal, Johnny Shines, Otha Turner, Ali Farka Toure, Habib Koité, Salif Keita, and Keb' Mo').
