Description
The French still call it "our Pearl Harbor", the tragic destruction of the French navy in 1940, by the British, to prevent it from falling into German hands. The dark story of Churchill's decision to sink the fleet, and with it, the lives of 1,300 French sailors, to prevent a German invasion continues to echo down the hall of military history. Was it a turning point in World War II, a terrible betrayal of one ally by another, or perhaps both?
