Notes

Description
Retired heart surgeon Ben Givens has just a few months to live. He sets out across the Cascade Mountains with his dogs, ostensibly for a hunting trip, though he plans to commit suicide and disguise it as an accident. The trip soon becomes a journey of memories of his childhood, his war experiences and his love for his dead wife. Then, a series of chance encounters draws him into other people's problems and eventually to a decision that leads him home.
